Books, Books, and more AMAZING Books!

Thanks giving break and reading assignments have given me the chance to read. A LOT.

Life as We Knew It, The Dead and the Gone, This World We Live In, by Susan Beth Pfeffer. The diary of a girl named Miranda, and the story of a boy named Alex. in the last book they meet, but thats not important right now. Basically an astroid hits the moon and causes the climate to change drastically, knocking out electricity, radar, connections, everything. The tides freak out, and the death toll is high. But Miranda and Alex somehow make life work. *****

I Am Number Four, by Pittacus Lore. when Mogadorians attack Lorien for its resources, nine four year old Garde and their Cepan escape to Earth to protect their race. a charm has been placed on them, so they can only be killed in order of their numbers, unless they come together. After a lifetime of changing identities, Three has been killed. Four is forced to leave again and move to Paradise, Ohio, where he meets a girl, a friend, and he may have to leave at anytime. *****

The Scorch Trials, by James Dashner. Remember Maze Runner? This is the sequel! Read Maze Runner. In this book, there is another trial, this time in the sunburned desert called the Scorch. The Gladers have to survive yet another test, a test that may be able to save human kind. Totally awesome! *****

The Roar, by Emma Clayton. When animals suddenly turn plagued with the Roar, a wall is built to keep animals out... and people in. thats pretty much all I can tell you! *****

AWESOME BOOKS, Must reads, whatever you call them
I reccomend them.

Later!

Extra, Extra, Ear All About It!

As a lot of people know, I (used to) have a hole in my eardrum. Dr. Kutz, my Ear doc, said a tempanoplasty was necessary. A tempanoplasty is when they take a bit of skin from your ear and graft it on to yor eardrum. they do it all the time and it is practically painless... unless you are me, that is!

Usually I'm a daddy's girl. But i pulled a Mom during this surgery. No, instead of being normal and just getting the graft, the doctors decided to replace the entire thing. Why? Because there were some cells that were choking my eardrum and if we hadnt gotten it fixed when we did, I would have had about a two year window before i lost my whole eardrum... including my hearing.

So now i have this beautiful (painful) incision behind my ear, itchy packing in my ear, and (hopefully) better hearing when it comes out. They do this so rarely. twice a year, max. I'm so thankful for those doctors and my parents who were there for me the whole time.

Anyway, Friday december tenth is the play NOT SO GRIMM TALES. Its ok. Not the best play i have ever done. but we are a new school, no? :)

I Read the Uglies series over break.
I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE. :))))
They are super good and hard to put down. I like the first and last one the best, the last one because of the technology in the city.

Later!

Not So Grimm Tales.. and other stories

Cobb's first ever performance is called Not So Grimm Tales. It is about a Mother trying to teach her daughter the proper ways the Grimm Tales should have gone. She gives Examples with Little Red, who would like to remind you that her height in no way should represent your judgement of her character, Snow white (ME! :D), who would rather have a brain and a rally than lipstick and a tiara, and Cinderella, who is an artistic Bohemian who wants to live in a shack and bathe with 'people of the earth'. The play is at Cobb on Dec. Eleventh, at 7:00 pm.

On My Kindle-
The Lost Hero, Rick Riordan. you've got Percy still, just another storyline with new characters. Get ready to jump back into the world of Camp Half-Blood.

The Adoration of Jenna Fox, Mary E. Pearson. Futuristic and really confusing, a mystery book... kind of. Very good though, definatley a book to read twice once you learn the ending.

Beastly, Alex Flinn. Ok people, its modern-day Beauty and the Beast, will be in theatres in March 2011 with Vanessa Hudgens.Very good lessons taught, he has an amazing style of writing!

The Compound, S.A. Bodeen. Also quite awesome, Eli's family has to go under ground as a result of a nuclear blast... or so his father tells him. Twisting, but not hard to follow. Literally did not put it down for six hours.

The Maze Runner, James Dashner. I don't know if this is a series or what, but I don't reccomend it until the next one comes out. Very hard to comprehend. don't get me wrong, its good, but he did a terrible job ending it if it isn't a series.

And of course, Mockingjay, but really, it's not the best one. I didn't enjoy the ending (partly because I am on Team Gale, partly because she changed personalities). I don't want to give it away though. Book spoiler- Katniss narrates. I don't know where the whole 'Peeta is going to narrrate' rumor came from, but its untrue.

Later, dudes!

New on my Kindle

Unwind- by Neil Shusterman

WARNING! This is a very freaky book NOT recommended for childeren under thirteen.

In a futuristic society, the people believe that if you are a troubled teen, or an ophaned one, your life is not worth living. That means they unwind you- they use every part of your body and use them to save others.

Connor is a troubled teen. He has a temper the size of tomorrow. When he finds his parents are going to unwind him, he quickly gets out.

Risa- a piano prodigy but takes up too much space in the statehome. was going to be unwound but escaped off a bus.

Lev is a tithe. He has been told since birth that he was meant for this, it is God's will and he is doing his duty. He doesn't get why it is bad.

When these three teens run into each others paths, they must learn to find trust, leadership, and integrity... before they are unwound.

I loved this book! It makes you really appreciate the meaning of life. I would reccomend it to everyone, or at least encouage them to check it out. it is a neat story with a lot of twists and turns.

In other announcements- HAS ANYONE SEEN A PINK SANYO 12.1 CAMERA LAYING AROUND??? :)

New School, New State Of Mind

So today was Cobb tour day. Me and Sydney went to wander around, and found that, although we had heard this our whole lives, you should never, EVER judge a book by its cover (even if your 'book' is 10000 square feet and made of brick).
The School is So Confuzzling!! (New word. You like?)
This year, I have decided to be confident and outgoing, and make new friends, even if those friends think I am a fellow sixth grader. Which I'm not. I am in eighth grade!!!!!
The theatre teacher was really really nice!!! the room has a large stage, but an extremely low ceiling.
We won't have enough money for a musical this year :'( but we can do a play!

So thats today.
Oh, and it rained and thundered, which was AWESOME!!!!!!! XDDDD

Kooky Kameras

Last Sunday I go to Wal-Mart with the $76 dollars I've saved up over the last 3 years and buy myself a snazzy new, pink digital camera. My first big investment; I am proud, happy, and excited. It works for 1 week, 3 days. How nice. We go back to Wal- Mart today just to exchange cameras. Now I can't find the box, the receipt, any proof of purchase.

Ooo, fun times.

But I did have fun tonight at the pool with my kindle!

Thanks.

Well here I am, thanks to Em, Grandma, and just about everyone else who has dragged me into this 'blog world'. I should think Facebook is enough, but hey- since I am discreetly opposed to getting a Twitter and my ears pierced, I figured what the hay.

I have tried to blog before and am sorry to note it was an epic fail. I think I know what i am doing now.
Maybe.
